Can't sign up or log in...
The app won't let me sign up for an account or let me log in with my twitter or Facebook account. This is totally useless for me.

Barcode
First home inventory app download - I am trying it right now. First thing I noticed about the ipad app is that it is landscape view only. Then the information talks about being able to use your mobile device to record a barcode. It says "When you buy something new, simply take a picture of it’s barcode and within 5 seconds you have just added your new item to your inventory!" Well just how do you do that? I see no help or FAQ's.

Excellent App, minor room for improvement.
I spent days looking for a well-designed home inventory option. I'm not sure why this app how poor ratings—I've been very pleased with it.
First, its completely free to use. Second, Belongings uses web-based iOS tools to sync your inventory. The full web version is more robust, but you can do most major actions with the iOS app (designed for both iPhone and iPad) and it works well. Its also well designed—clean, simple, etc. Third, the web version lets you copy and paste excel data for quick and easy import, which is really nice for when you first get started.
My method for cataloging is to take photos of everything (just one of each) from the iPhone or iPad while pasting excel data into the web app. Then I used the iOS app to match photos to uploaded items.
My only complaint is the "category" section. As it is, the categories are static—you can't change them or customize them. This wouldn't be too much of an issue if the categories currently available were a little more robust/intuitive. For example, things like rugs, watches, printers and other media devices don't have an obvious place to go besides an "other" category. Expand/improve this and you get five starts.
Overall, this is a great app—and its totally free and clearly leagues ahead of any other free options I've found.
